If San Francisco hadn't been the city it is, the Love Generation might have been stillborn.

But then the flower ******** as the grass in spring could have grown anywhere.

Regardless of how it happened, the fact is, here is where it started.

Back in the 50s, San Francisco was elected father, mother, wet nurse, and undertaker for a people called the Beat Generation.

A group of black stocking, turtleneck, bearded malcontents who holed up in the North Beach hills and berated the world at large.
